Sentara CIO Discusses Why to Bridge Epic to E/Point

A recent interview with Bert Reese, CIO of Sentara Healthcare, describes why they developed an interface between Picis LYNX E/Point and Epic Corporation’s Software to preserve the financial returns and benefits to clinicians. According to Reese, “One of the issues that you have is that nurses and caregivers don’t see coding as value-added to the care process; it’s more an administrative function. So when you want them to do something like that, if you can make it a byproduct of how you treat the patient. Then it’s a lot more convenient and they’ll do it. That’s what we did. It’s pretty straightforward; that’s the real secret sauce is in the Picis LYNX software.”
